Horn is a beautiful and vibrant material, and even in today’s assembly line age, most of the crafting still done by hand at the ‘Hornvarefabrikken’ (The Horn Handicrafts Factory), the only one of its kind in Denmark. Since 1935, the factory has created stunning jewelry and crafts made from horn. And now Sommerfuglen has been granted the right to carry these unique pieces that pair so well with knitted creations.

The production process begins with cutting the item out of the horn, after which the piece is heated and worked into the desired shape. After cooling down, the piece is honed and then finally polished to a high sheen. Thus the jewelry achieves the luminous, translucent, soft surface that horn is renowned for, in a spectrum of gorgeous colour variations ranging from ivory white to ebony black.
